First look at Sam & Daz’ gorgeous outdoor flashmob wedding!
Sam & Daz wanted to have a flashmob wedding, in fact what we believe is Britain’s first. The congregation was asked to meet at a specified public place with picnic blankets, and to watch, listen and maybe take part. There was a minor panic at 9pm last night when we found out that the intended Winchester venue was being closed in the afternoon (we’re not sure why, possibly they got wind of the plan), so we ended up switching to the stunning Netley Abbey in Southampton – which in hindsight was exactly the right thing to happen; it looked amazing.
Some of the couple’s friends brought instruments, and as she arrived they began playing on their cellos, violins, drums and guitars, and other members of the congregation broke into song – a beautifully melodic version of Elbow’s One Day Like This . Sam entered into a makeshift aisle held aloft by friends (it was at this point I lost the plot), the sun was shining and it was honestly quite magical.
Matt, the pastor from the couple’s church, conducted a brief and beautiful blessing, and it was done. After champagne and photos (some with bemused members of the public!), the wedding party left to eat and party the night away at Old Alresford Place with a Céilidh from ‘Also Known As‘.
Sam & Daz – I was so happy to be part of your day. It was moving and joyful and filled with love from and for you both. Thank you xxx
