Beth & Nadine at The Asylum Caroline Gardens Chapel, London
So, Nadine Married her Beth yesterday, and Beth married her Nadine. I couldn’t love these two more if they came with a a chocolate topping. In fact, I am hereby petitioning for Nad & Beth action figures to keep me company during long edits – get on that, ya?
They chose the peerless Asylum, Caroline Gardens Chapel in Peckham, followed by an after party at the East Dulwich Tavern – they are one of the last couples to have the Asylum as their reception venue, as they move to a ceremony-only service. I was so excited they chose me to photograph their day, and totally delivered on my expectation with two awesome wedding looks, florals to die for (created by a totally untrained Nadine – what a talent!), and above all an incredible set of family & friends that love them to absolute pieces. I mean, seriously, how beautiful are these two? Which would mean nothing if they weren’t also warm, loving and so utterly besotted with each other, which they are. I left their day foot sore & aching, but with such a sense of admiration for them & their relationship – perfectly summed up by Beth’s dad Jo as having such ‘wonderful equality’. I also loved how they only kept the wedding traditions that suited them – so we had cake cutting, but Beth & Nadine got ready together, and mingled with guests before the service, and walked in together – which totally gladdened the heart of this ole feminist.
Thank you Nadine & Beth for inviting me to record such an important day. Thank you to all the friends & family who came to say hi, and who made my job so easy. You nailed it.
