Emma-Claire & Huw: Hampshire wedding photography
There are a number of ways you can approach a rainy wedding, as a photographer, as a guest, and as a bride & groom. Because all the planning & details & evenings spent ensuring this day goes without a hitch can be undone by the Great British Summertime in a hot minute. Or a damp one anyway. While I will confess to feeling a bit trepidatious on a wet wedding day, I also kind of love it. Right there in front of you is a story, and stories are what weddings (and by extension wedding photography) is all about. So here is the story of Emma-Claire & Huw’s day…
EC & Huw were married at St Mary’s church by the lovely Rev. Sarah McClelland. Whilst our plan for outside portraits & confetti were somewhat scuppered, we were lucky enough to be able to use the beautiful church altar for some family portraits before running to a white taxi & on to one of my very favourite places to be: Houghton Lodge. The tipi by the river was transformed by the jaw dropping talent of Jen from Jennibloom Flowers, and by the always brilliant & creative team from McCrimmon & Reid (thank you so much to Claudia & her team for keeping us nourished – you did an amazing job today), and I make no apology for the amount of pictures I took of the place settings & flowers, the gilded pomegranates & flickering candlelight – all taking us from a a rainy day to a cosy haven. Blossom & Crumb did an incredible job on one of the most impressive cakes I have seen.
After an amazing dinner & some properly entertaining speeches, we took advantage of the rain becoming more drizzle than downpour & headed into Houghton’s always-beautiful gardens for a few portraits before heading back for dancing along to the most impressive band I have seen in a while (both Huw & Emma-Claire are talented musicians themselves, so this was not a surprise, but it was a huge treat).
Thank you so much for trusting me to tell your story – I loved being there. Here is your sneak peek:
