Sophie & Alex’s stunning Basing House wedding
Basing House wedding photography
This wedding actually took place back at the beginning of August, but this brilliant couple very much wanted me to shoot some film on their day, so I wanted to wait until they had seen all that before I released this blog post into the wild. First, props must go to my brilliant second shooter Julie, who will have taken some of these shots below (not least those lovely portraits of Alex awaiting his bride).
So. The Venue: The excellent Basing House looking as beautiful as always. The Bride: beautiful Sophie in a knockout frock. The Groom: wonderful Alex looking pretty darned dapper himself. The Day: 4th August. The weather: Augusty. By that I mean boiling sunshine, rain, hail & a thunderstorm. Pretty standard.
This was the loveliest of days & the kind of wedding which makes my job so easy, so joyful, and so special. Two people whom I liked very much, their friendly families, the incredible food (we were SO well fed), a beautiful venue, people who indulged my mad ideas & passion for films and tintypes & polaroids (being the first of my couples to have their tintypes made as an engagement shoot!), STUNNING cakes by the ever wonderful Jemima Cakes, the most incredible styling, nay TABLESCAPES, which actually took my breath away when I walked in, and countless other suppliers that made this day what it was – see the bottom of the post for a list of those I remembered to take names of…. I make no apologies for the huge amount of pictures of the tables. Given free reign, I would still be in there snapping away – guys, you did the most incredible job planning this day. It was beautiful & impressive, without being at all distancing or fussy. It was friendly, down to earth & warm – just like you. I hope I did your memories justice.
Venue: Basing House, Basingstoke
Flowers: Blackberry Bloom Flowers
Cakes: Jemima Cakes
