Andrew & Tara’s Winchester College wedding
Winter is well & truly here – Winchester Christmas market is in its final week, so I will no longer have direct access to mulled wine & churros whenever the moods takes me (turns out the mood take me a LOT), but there may also be anything up to three car parking spaces available in town as of next week. Don’t all rush. But the city is looking twinkly & beautiful, even on a day as throughly wet & chilly as Andy & Tara’s yesterday. These unutterably lovely people rolled with the punches, and had a blast – skipping between the town’s venues & paying scant attention to the rain even when it buffeted them across the college campus…and if you are going to have a winter wedding of course, Winchester College campus is a great place to choose. Andrew attended Winchester, so they were able to get married in the stunning chapel (and thank you to lovely Rev Justin who was so kind & led an beautiful service ably assisted by the beautiful sounds of the Consort Choir). Then we headed to the beautiful Chapel Cloisters for an EPIC bubble confetti tunnel. Whenever I think of Andy & Tara, this will be the image I remember – them laughing their way through a bubble vortex provided by their guests & a couple of excellent (and soon to be purchased) early learning bubble fish. It was funny, and wild, and also quite magical actually. So often bubbles are just taken by the wind, but in the corridors of the cloisters they danced around everyone.
Then we decamped to Musa for drinks & indoor groups shots, and a traditional tea ceremony, before dinner in the beautiful School – and thank to the team at Winchester who did such a sterling job keeping everyone fed & happy, even as the elements were against them – its can’t have been fun cooking & moving food across the campus in that weather. Growing up in the city, Winchester College is at its heart, and I love getting to shoot on the campus that is so familiar, but also somewhere you don’t get to see much. It’s motto ‘Manners Makyth Man’ has been kind of adopted by the whole city, and its truly shown in Andrew, and in turn in Tara – lovely people, doing jobs that serve the world around them, and their kind & pragmatic attitude to life was reflected in their weddings & the many equally lovely people who travelled to celebrate it with them – extra big gratitude to best man Thomas for being an absolute star & moving countless bags & coat racks so I could take a group shot that didn’t require 52.8 hours of photoshop afterwards. But the biggest thanks, as ever, are to my lovely couple who trusted me to record their day. You are the best, and Mia & I loved being part of it.
