Zo & Matt’s Horsebridge Station Wedding amazingness

Jun 29, 2019

It’s super important to make sure your wedding ticks all your boxes.  These boxes will be different to other peoples (and others might try & persuade you to take their box and tell you it’s an important box.  You can smile & nod kindly.  You do not need to take their box).  And once you’ve compiled your boxes, chosen your food, found your venue, your photographer, your dress and/or suit, then there isn’t much else to do but run with it.  So it’s so gratifying to hear someone say, after the hard graft of making it happen, that it was everything they imagined it to be – as Zo did today.
That imagining was a day filled with loved ones, in the gorgeous Horsebridge Station, eating amazing food (from the always brilliant Wilds – huge thanks to Charlotte & the team!)), listening to fantastic music (Folk Junkies you were troopers!), and basking in some pretty serious heat (32 degrees at one point. Felt like 932).   Kids ran wild, with silly hats & bubbles, mad granddads got some serious glitter work in, and everywhere you turned there was someone sitting with a loved child or grandchild, just being with each other.  There were a few tears today, not least in some really lovely speeches – Zo’s dad in particular struck a chord for me.  He spoke about checking Google for what to say in these speeches, but how the results left him disheartened. Bucking the patriarchal traditions, for one where he celebrated Zo not being given away (“Zoe is nobody’s chattel”), but choosing a brilliant man, and father, to make a life with.  I had to resist an air punch at this.

Zo & Matt, you did good.  Today. And for every day after, for creating such a wonderful tribe around you. Thank you for allowing me to be part of it today. #doelmates
