A wedding at The Grange Northington: Chris & Francesca’s amazing day

Aug 11, 2019

Not going to lie, I have had this wedding at The Grange Northington circled in my diary with all manner of rings & exclamation marks for a while.  Because I knew it was going to be rad – how could it not be.  Chris & Fran are fun, stylish, creative and completely warm and lovely humans. They were getting married at somewhere I adore and have done since we held a millinery shoot there a million years ago – which was also where I first met Sarah, part of the incredible posse who make up What Peggy Did Next, who styled & ran today’s wedding, and generally kept us all happy with their problem solving skills and unflappable manner. Helen, I hope you remain under the duvet being hand fed bonbons all day today.  The Grange at Northington is a totally unique venue. With more beauty & character in a single room than many spread across entire venues.  It is quite different to anything else the South has to offer outside London.
Chris & Fran saw a shoot I did there for Peggy, (see it here on Love My Dress), and they put their own stamp on the venue with the most incredible floral staircase by Wild Renata Flowers – I also loved how the beautiful floral urns Lara made, were echoed in shape by Fran’s bouquet (100 attention to detail points for Ange). The cake from my Little Mallow also fed in seamlessly in putty tones (and was, more importantly, delicious. It really was a mistake to situate my little photobooth so near to the cake/cheese table, but that’s something they will all have to live with…)
So they were married in the beauty of the front hall at the Grange, which is impossibly romantic. We were blown by gale force winds and some truly erratic weather (which mattered not at all when you have a venue like this), but was kind of fun!  They ate fine food by Beka Cooper, were entertained by two amazing bands (Shine on & Northern Quarter), and generally had a blast with a lovely group of family & friends,  some seriously amazing cocktails from the brilliant The Cocktail Service, and relaxed in styled lounge areas by Virginia’s Vintage Hire. The list of suppliers above were so well and thoughtfully chosen, and the whole day went without a hitch.  Oh also, THE DRESS.  I won’t wax lyrical about how incredible Fran looked because I am an old feminist and I like to value women as whole people and not just for their looks and she is the most lovely of people HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD LOOK AT HER IN THAT DRESS. (Alan Livne in case you are wondering).

Right, I am going out for pancakes.  Enjoy your Sunday people!  Chris & Fran, THANK YOU.  You were amazing.
