LOVE WINS: Kelsey & Robbie’s Boxgrove Priory wedding
Normal is a relative term of late. Nothing has been normal, and the everyday joys we have taken for granted in other times seem like found gems as things begin to move towards what we knew. Kelsey & Robbie’s wedding was one such gem.
Kelsey asked me to shoot her wedding after I had shot her for her company headshots as part of my sister company (feastsshootsandleaves.co.uk). Then, of course, flippin’ corona hit, and a couple of saddening postponements later, we finally ended up at Boxgrove Priory and Upwaltham Barns yesterday. And DAMN it was a good day.
For me, and many of the brilliant supplier team (see the end of the post for details), it was our first normal length wedding back, so it was going to be special anyway – there was definitely an air of celebration. The sun was high & warm, and after this particular Winter of discontent, we were ready to party. We started off a the beautiful Seabeach House for getting ready with the ace Birute and Roshni and Kelsey’s family, and videographer fave Luis. They were wed at Boxgrove Priory by the lovely Father Ian, whose service was truly love-filled, before we were off to Upwaltham Barns for amazing food, friendly staff, and a party of 30 that never once felt like a compromise.
It was exciting to be doing all of this after so long, sure, but what the day what it was, was the warmth that exude from Robbie & Kelsey. Meeting them is being welcomed into the fold, and I have rarely felt so at home so fast. I love the bones of them. There were so many memories that will stay with me – the God Light at Boxgrove Priory lighting up Kelsey’s veil as she said I do. The best breakfast eggs in the world (approximately 82% butter). Kelsey’s reaction to the ‘bird poop incident’. The ‘asking for the hand in marriage’ story. Walking through the most amazing golden light. Me dropping the F-bomb after seeing the orange light in the church (apologies Big Man). Tiyo breaking HARD on the dance floor to the perfect Festival Folk like a hero in her cape. And The Proclaimers – if you were there, you know.
From all of us, suppliers who spent the day as emotional as I did because we got to do our jobs on a sunny day with brilliant people once again, THANK YOU <3
