Chaz & Tom’s High Billinghurst Farm Wedding

Aug 1, 2021

In the speeches yesterday, when one of the four Groomsmen got up to talk, he said that to know Charlotte & Tom is to love them. And he was right. These two are warm, kind, funny, plus they are dog lovers who like a wheel of cheese and enjoy singing along to Hamilton in the car – these are my people.
Their High Billinghurst Farm wedding yesterday was not smooth sailing on paper – a change of date (THANKS COVID), a change of venue, much rearrangement and no doubt stress, then a weather forecast that flipped between paradise & armageddon – which when you a planning a wedding day can be exquisitely stressful.

So, yes, at times the rain was torrential. And we all got thoroughly soaked on the path back up from the outdoor woodland ceremony (but you know, 10 minutes later would have been significantly more dramatic!), but actually it just added to the story of the day. It was fun. Wet hair & muddy hems made people laugh, made people forget about what they were wearing, and just concentrate on having the best time and celebrating these people they adored.

They had a killer team of suppliers on board, Devine Bride was on planning duty, ensuring chaos was averted, and the barn at High Billinghurst Farm looked amazing due to the styling of Locate to Create and food from JP’s Kitchen. Music was incredible (not a shock from these festival fans) from Wandering Three (who were brilliant – if you want a walk around band who can read the crowd with excellent musicianship – book ’em in) DJ’s The Wedding Smashers and the always epic Old Dirty Brasstards. Videography was from Marriage in Motion.

I was every ably supported on the day by old friend Julie, and her wonderful floral photography skills were super useful when shooting the magical woodland setting by the incredible Green and Envy.

Charlotte looked amazing – Her hairstylist Liz from The Artful Stylist did the most amazing insta-worthy hair! I didn’t get her MUA’s name, but they did an amazing job too. She was dressed in the MOST amazing gown by Flora Bridal , and her veil by Ashley Wild with beautiful embroidered butterflies to honour her late parents.

But amazing as she (and Tom!) looked, and as beautiful as her bridesmaids were, and lovely as the wedding looked…it wasn’t about that. Their ceremony had me in tears not for its visuals, but for it’s joy – for voices singing in a wood, and spontaneous cheers and laughter because these are are good and kind people who are fiercely and completely loved. It is quite a thing to watch, and to record. So thank you for the honour of being there, Chaz & Tom. xx
